. . . where the 1970s live forever!
Jason Thompson drove in three runs and scored the game-winner on Milt May's sacrifice fly to help the Tigers snap the Royals' eight-game winning streak with a 5-4 triumph. The Royals led, 4-3, in the seventh but Steve Kemp singled and Thompson doubled to drive him in. Thompson moved to third on an infield out and scored on May's fly. Dave Rozema became first the A. L. rookie to win nine games this season. [The Sporting News]
