Ross Grimsley won for the fifth time in his last six decisions, scattering seven hits and pitching the Orioles to a 6-1 victory over the Rangers. The Orioles nicked Gaylord Perry for two runs in the first inning on a single by Tom Shopay, a sacrifice, an error by Bump Wills and double by Ken Singleton. Singles by Singleton and Eddie Murray led to another run in the sixth before the Orioles capped their scoring with three in the seventh, including an unearned run on an error by Claudell Washington.
