Pinch-hitting for a pinch-hitter, Tom Paciorek delivered a sacrifice fly in the ninth inning to give the Braves a 4-3 victory over the Reds. Biff Pocoroba opened the inning by drawing a walk and advancing to second on a balk by Joe Henderson. Darrel Chaney singled Pocoroba to third. When Joe Nolan was announced as a pinch-hitter for Phil Niekro, the Reds brought Joe Hoerner to the mound. Paciorek then went to bat in place of Nolan and hit his sacrifice fly.
