. . . where the 1970s live forever!
After 38-year-old Gaylrod Perry pitched the Rangers to a 4-0 victory in the first game of a twi-night doubleheader, the Athletics won the second game, 4-1, behind 25-year-old rookie Rick Langford. Perry doled out six hits in posting the 47th shutout of his career. The Rangers got only five hits off Mike Norris, including a homer by Juan Beniquez. Langford scattered seven hits and might have matched Perry's shutout except that an error by Rob Picciolo led to a Ranger unearned run in the second inning. [The Sporting News]
