. . . where the 1970s live forever!
The Tigers, who had lost 10 straight times to the Red Sox in Detroit since September 20, 1975, snapped that string with a 4-1 victory. Steve Kemp doubled for the Tigers' initial run in the first inning, Tom Veryzer, Ron LeFlore and Rusty Staub hit doubles for a pair in the second and Jason Thompson homered in the third. Dave Roberts, who pitched the route, gained his first victory since May 11. [The Sporting News]
