After striking out twice and hitting into a double play in his previous trips, Roy Howell singled in the ninth inning, scoring Alan Ashby, to bring the Blue Jays a 5-4 victory over the Orioles. Ron Fairly hit a two-run homer in the second and Otto Velez doubled two runs across in the third to give the Blue Jays a 4-0 lead, but the Orioles tied the score in the seventh with a single by Eddie Murray and two-run homer by pinch-hitter Andres Mora. In the ninth, Ashby singled and Steve Bowling sacrificed. After an intentional pass to Bob Bailor, Howell dropped a single into short left field. [The Sporting News]
