After coming from behind with three runs to tie the score in the ninth inning, the Braves rallied for three more in the 10th to defeat the Padres, 9-8. The Braves forced the game into overtime in the ninth when Willie Montanez batted in two runs with a double and Junior Moore followed with a single to drive in the tying tally.

The Padres went ahead again with two runs in the 10th, one scoring on a single by Bill Almon and the other crossing the plate on a bases-loaded pass to George Hendrick. In the Braves' half, Darrel Chaney singled and Vic Correll knotted the count with a homer. With one out, Gary Matthews singled and stole second. After Tom Paciorek struck out, Jeff Burroughs was passed intentionally, bringing up Moore, who doubled for his third hit of the game to drive in the winning run. [The Sporting News]
