Normally used as a reliever, Rick Waits made his second start of the season and pitched 6 2/3 innings to get credit for the Indians' 4-0 victory over the Blue Jays. Waits, who allowed four hits, departed with the bases loaded, but Don Hood struck out Alan Ashby to end the Blue Jays' threat. Jim Kern earned the save by pitching the last 1 1/3 innings.
