Aided by three double plays, Jerry Augustine pitched the Brewers to a 4-0 victory over the Royals, who played in the Milwaukee road uniforms after their dressing room was burglarized during the night. Thieves stole 53 K. C. uniforms, 20 gloves, 10 pairs of shoes and 15 jackets.

The Brewers sent Augustine on the way to his victory by scoring three runs in the fifth inning. Robin Yount singled and counted on a double by Von Joshua, who then crossed the plate on a single by Cecil Cooper. After a pass to Sixto Lezcano, Don Money singled to drive in Cooper.
