Reggie Smith drove in two runs with a homer and single and Rick Monday also homered to carry the Dodgers to a 5-4 victory over the Mets. Smith connected for the circuit in the first inning. The Dodgers added a pair in the second on Monday's homer, a single by Doug Rau and double by Davey Lopes. Four straight singles by Lopes, Bill Russell, Smith and Ron Cey resulted in two more runs and enabled Rau to receive credit for his fifth victory. [The Sporting News]
