A wild pitch by Jerry Johnson with two out in the 11th inning allowed Roy Smalley to score and gave the Twins a 4-3 victory over the Blue Jays. Smalley walked to open the stanza, Rod Carew singled and Butch Wynegar was safe on an error to load the bases.

Johnson relieved and induced Craig Kusick to hit into a double play, Smalley holding third. Then, with the count 2-2 on Larry Hisle, Johnson threw a pitch into the dirt and when the ball got away from catcher Alan Ashby, Smalley came home with the winning run. [The Sporting News]
