J.R. Richard pitched a five-hitter and gained his first victory since April 12 when the Astros defeated the Cubs, 8-2. The Cubs were stopped on their six-game winning streak. After Jose Cruz batted in the Astros' first two runs with a double in the first inning, Cesar Cedeno led off with a homer in the third to spark a five-run outburst.
