Ray Burris pitched a five-hitter and beat the Astros, 9-0, for the first shutout to the credit of the Cubs' staff this season. Bill Buckner hit three doubles in support of Burris. After his third two-bagger in the seventh inning, Buckner scored on singles by Bobby Murcer and Joe Wallis. Manny Trillo followed with a homer to cap the four-run frame. [The Sporting News]
