Bruce Sutter pitched 3 1/3 innings of scoreless ball in relief of Rick Reuschel to preserve the Cubs' 4-1 victory over the Reds, who were stopped on their five-game winning streak. The Cubs counted their first two runs in the sixth on an infield hit by Ivan DeJesus, Dave Concepcion's first error of the season on a grounder by Greg Gross, a double by Bill Buckner and sacrifice fly by Bobby Murcer. Sutter took over with a 2-1 lead and got more breathing room when Jerry Morales drove in the Cubs' last two runs with a double in the ninth. [The Sporting News]
