. . . where the 1970s live forever!
The White Sox smashed five homers, but the blows failed to prevent a 10-9 loss to the Tigers, who countered with two circuit clouts including a grand slam by Jason Thompson. Richie Zisk started the White Sox slugging with a two-run blast in the first inning. Milt May homered for the Tigers in the second and Thompson hit his grand slam in the third when the Tigers erupted for seven runs to take an 8-3 lead.

Homers by Royle Stillman, Eric Soderholm and Chet Lemon helped the White Sox tie the score, but the Tigers loaded the bases in the sixth and got the winning blow from Steve Kemp, who singled to drive in two runs. The White Sox finished one run short after Oscar Gamble connected as a pinch-hitter in the eighth for their fifth homer of the game. The White Sox did better on June 18, 1974, smashing six in a game against the Indians. [The Sporting News]
