Jeff Burroughs hit his fifth homer of the season, while Andy Messersmith and Rick Camp combined in pitching a shutout, as the Braves defeated the Padres, 2-0. After Burroughs belted his homer off Randy Jones in the fourth inning, the Braves added an insurance marker in the sixth on a double by Gary Matthews and single by Rod Gilbreath.
