The Orioles knocked out Wayne Garland, their former teammate, and defeated the Indians, 7-2, for their fifth straight victory. Garland was tagged for a homer by Doug DeCinces with a man on base in the first inning. After yielding another run in the third, Garland departed in the fourth in favor of Don Hood, who walked Al Bumbry with the bases loaded to force in a run charged against Garland. Bumbry added an RBI with a single in the sixth and Eddie Murray wound up the Orioles' scoring by hitting a homer with a man on base in the seventh. [The Sporting News]
