An unearned run resulting from an error by Chris Speier enabled the Braves to nip the Giants, 4-3. The Braves tied the score at 3-3 in the seventh inning when Junior Moore, batting for Andy Messersmith, drove in a run with a single for his first major league hit. Mike Marshall then was the winner in relief when Jim Wynn reached base on Speier's miscue in the eighth, stole second and scored on a single by Darrel Chaney. [The Sporting News]
