Duane Kuiper, batting at a .440 clip since the All-Star break, lashed four hits and Rick Waits pitched shutout ball as the Indians defeated the Orioles, 3-0. The Indians settled Jim Palmer's fate with two runs in the first inning on a single by Kuiper, pass to Rick Manning, single by Rico Carty, a throwing error and sacrifice fly by Boog Powell.
