Wayne Garland pitched a two-hitter and had 10 strikeouts in the first complete game of his major league career and the Orioles defeated the Red Sox, 2-0. Rico Petrocelli singled with two out in the eighth inning for the first hit off Garland. An infield single by Rick Miller was the Red Sox' only other safety.
