After falling behind, 7-4, the Cardinals rallied to tie the score and then defeated the Braves in the 12th inning, 8-7. A homer by Ted Simmons in the eighth and a double by Mike Anderson and single by Lou Brock in ninth knotted the count. In the 12th, Bake McBride singled and raced home on a double by Simmons.
