Jumping on Mike Marshall for four runs in the eighth inning, the Giants defeated the Dodgers, 6-4, before another fine turnout of 25,659 at strikebound Candlestick Park. Marshall, coming on in relief of Doug Rau, walked Bobby Murcer and yielded the first run on singles by Gary Matthews and Willie Montanez.

Chris Speier followed with a single and when Bill Buckner threw wildly back to the infield, Matthews raced home to tie the score at 4-4. Then after two out, pinch-hitter Dave Rader doubled, driving in two runs for the winning margin. [The Sporting News]
