Two runs in the ninth inning on an error and a pass with the bases loaded enabled the Royals to defeat the Rangers, 8-6. Jamie Quirk drove in three of the Royals' six earlier runs with a pair of singles.

A two-run double by Mike Hargrove and homer by Toby Harrah with a man on base helped the Rangers narrow their deficit to one run at 6-5 before the Royals began the ninth by loading the bases with singles by Frank White and Vada Pinson and a walk to John Mayberry. Harmon Killebrew then grounded to Harrah and was safe on the shortstop's error as White scored. Amos Otis came up next and walked to force in an extra tally. [The Sporting News]
