Tom Hall's bases-loaded walk to Mike Sadek with one out in the ninth forced the winning run home in the Giants' 2-1 victory over the Mets. Blanked by Jerry Koosman until the ninth, the Giants tied it at 1-1 as Gary Thomasson doubled, stole third and scored on Willie Montanez' double. Chris Speier was passed intentionally, and Hall replaced Skip Lockwood when Bobby Murcer was announced as a pinch-hitter.

Murcer then walked to load the bases and set the stage for the winning run as the Giants snapped their six-game losing streak. John Montefusco held the Mets to two hits and one run for eight innings, fanning 11, but was removed for a pinch-hitter and Gary Lavelle won it in relief. [The Sporting News]
