Bill North's one-out, bases-loaded sacrifice fly in the bottom of the ninth gave the Athletics a 2-1 win over the Brewers. Tommy Harper scored the winning run after pinch-running for Sal Bando, who walked as the leadoff batter in the ninth.

Harper moved to third on a bloop double by Phil Garner and, after Bert Campaneris was intentionally walked to load the bases, scored on North's sacrifice fly.
