The Royals took advantage of two errors by Buddy Bell to score three unearned runs in the seventh in a 6-4 victory over the Indians. After one out in the seventh, Al Cowens was safe on Bell's high throw to first. Bob Stinson forced Cowens and Fred Patek walked, bringing in Jim Bibby to pitch for Dennis Eckersley. Stinson then scored when Bell booted Cookie Rojas' grounder. Amos Otis followed with a two-run single.

The Indians had taken a 4-2 lead in the sixth on Boog Powell's three-run homer and a solo shot by Rico Carty. The triumph was their 16th in the last 20 games for the Royals and 13th against four losses since Whitey Herzog took over as manager of the club. [The Sporting News]
