. . . where the 1970s live forever!
Allowing only two hits, Jim Palmer became a 16-game winner by pitching the Orioles to a 3-0 victory over the Red Sox. The Orioles, who collected 11 hits, nicked Luis Tiant for a run in the third inning on a double by Mark Belanger and single by Bobby Grich.

Singles by Jim Northrup, Don Baylor and Brooks Robinson added another in the fourth before the final tally counted in the fifth on a double by Al Bumbry and an error. Denny Doyle, who had hit safely in 22 straight games for the Red Sox, was stopped on his streak by Palmer. [The Sporting News]
