John Mayberry drove in all of the Royals' runs with his 10th and 11th homers of the month as Kansas City edged the Tigers, 3-2. Mayberry hit his 19th round-tripper of the season in the first and unloaded again in the third with Frank White at first with a single. The Tigers got their first run in the fifth on Gene Michael's RBI single. Jack Pierce hit a bases-empty homer off winner Dennis Leonard in the seventh. [The Sporting News]
