. . . where the 1970s live forever!
Tom Seaver, who struck out six batters to raise his career total to 1,999, gained his 14th victory of the season when the Mets defeated the Braves, 5-4. Ed Kranepool drove in three runs for the Mets, who took a 5-2 lead in the seventh inning when John Stearns was hit by a pitch, Seaver grounded out, Wayne Garrett doubled and Kranepool singled. As a result, Seaver was able to survive a two-run homer by Mike Lum in the eighth. [The Sporting News]
