Ted Simmons drove in a run with a double in the ninth inning to give the Cardinals a 1-0 victory over the Giants. Jim Barr, who had shut out the Cardinals for 32 innings in various appearances since July, 1974, gave up a single by Lou Brock to open the ninth. Bake McBride forced Brock. After Reggie Smith popped up, Simmons hit his double and the speedy McBride galloped home from first base. [The Sporting News]
