Bert Blyleven, making his second appearance since being sidelined by shoulder trouble, gained credit for his first victory since May 23 when the Twins defeated the Angels, 9-4. Blyleven was hurt on June 4 and did not return to action until June 27, when he was beaten by the Rangers, 2-0.

The Angels rapped Blyleven for 10 hits and forced his exit after 7 2/3 innings. Vic Albury picked up his first save of the season in relief. Dan Ford drove in three runs for the Twins with a bases-loaded double in the fourth. Rod Carew helped assure the victory, batting in two tallies with a single in the eighth. [The Sporting News]
