Halting a six-game losing streak, the Tigers scored in the eighth inning on Gene Michael's third hit of the game to win a 6-5 victory over the Orioles, who suffered their sixth straight setback. Mickey Lolich, who pitched the route for the Tigers, allowed only five hits, but they included a homer by Dave Duncan with two men on base and another by Paul Blair with the sacks empty.

With the score tied, 5-5, Mickey Stanley doubled in the eighth, took third on an infield out by Aurelio Rodriguez and scored the winning run on a single by Michael. Ron LeFlore also had three hits, including a triple, for the Tigers. [The Sporting News]
