. . . where the 1970s live forever!
A pinch-homer by Tommy Hutton in the ninth inning, following Dick Allen's fourth hit of the game, lifted the Phillies to a 9-7 victory over the Cubs. Allen doubled and scored in the second. Mike Schmidt made it 3-2 with a two-run homer in the fourth, but the Cubs went ahead when Don Kessinger batted in two runs with a triple in their half.

Allen doubled again to spark a three-run outburst by the Phillies in the sixth and followed with a homer in the seventh. However, the Cubs came back to gain a 7-7 tie with three unearned runs. With one out in the ninth, Allen singled before Hutton, who was batting only .171, came up as a pinch-hitter and delivered his winning homer. [The Sporting News]
