Deron Johnson, serving as designated hitter for the White Sox, drove in five runs with two homers and a sacrifice fly to beat the Yankees, 7-2. Johnson hit his first homer of the game in the fourth inning to tie the score at 1-1. The White Sox then went ahead with two runs in the sixth on singles by Brian Downing and Jorge Orta around a stolen base, an error and Johnson's sacrifice fly.

In the seventh, after a double by Bucky Dent and singles by Pat Kelly and Orta produced one run, Johnson accounted for three more with his second circuit clout. Graig Nettles homered for the Yankees in the ninth. [The Sporting News]
