The White Sox ended a six-game losing streak, their longest since 1972, by piling up 14 hits to defeat the Brewers, 9-2. Wilbur Wood also ended his personal four-game losing streak, pitching his first complete game since April 19.

Pat Kelly ignited the White Sox scoring by hitting a homer in the fifth inning. Three more runs followed on singles by Jorge Orta, Bucky Dent and Carlos May, a sacrifice fly by Ken Henderson and two wild pitches by Bill Champion, who replaced Pete Broberg in the midst of the outburst. The White Sox added three runs in the sixth on a single by Tony Muser, double by Brian Downing, walk to Kelly, single by Orta and infield out by Dent. [The Sporting News]
