Dick Allen smashed his first two homers of the year and Greg Luzinski also hit for the circuit in the Phillies' support of Steve Carlton, who yielded only two singles and handed the Dodgers their first shutout of the season, 4-0. Allen, who went into the game with a batting average of .177, connected for his first homer in the second inning. After hitting a single in fourth, Allen rapped his second round-tripper in the sixth.
