George Scott pounded a two-run, game-tying homer in the sixth and the Brewers scored three more late runs to turn back the Athletics and Vida Blue and make a winner of reliever Bill Castro for the first time in the majors, 6-3. Oakland grabbed a 3-1 lead off starter Ed Sprague, scoring single runs in each of the first three frames, but Castro shut them out the rest of the way.

Following Scott's equalizer, Kurt Bevacqua doubled and scored on Robin Yount's single in the eighth. Milwaukee knocked out Blue, who was trying to become the majors' first 10-game winner, with two insurance runs in the ninth. [The Sporting News]
