. . . where the 1970s live forever!
The A's snapped their four-game losing streak and regained first place in the A. L. West by blanking the Indians, 3-0, behind Sonny Siebert and Jim Todd. Siebert, making his first start since being acquired from San Diego in a trade, faced only 16 batters in holding the Tribe to one hit over the first five innings, and rookie Todd blanked the home team on two hits over the final four frames.

The A's started the scoring in the third when Bert Campaneris belted Gaylord Perry's first serve of the inning into the left field stands. Joe Rudi hit a homer in the fourth and the third run came in the ninth when Claudell Washington drove home pinch-runner Don Hopkins from second. [The Sporting News]
