. . . where the 1970s live forever!
Bernie Carbo belted a three-run homer in the third and solo shot in the fifth to account for all of the Red Sox' runs in a 4-2 triumph over the Royals. The first homer by Carbo, following a single by Doug Griffin and walk to Tim Blackwell, erased a 1-0 Royals' lead, achieved in the top of the third when Amos Otis singled, stole second and scored on Hal McRae's base hit. Fran Healy homered for K. C. in the fourth, one of six hits off Rick Wise, who went the distance for his fourth victory, ending Kansas City's winning streak at five. [The Sporting News]
