Steve Busby yielded only four hits and pitched the Royals to a 3-0 victory over the Red Sox. The Royals broke up the scoreless duel between Busby and Luis Tiant with a run in the sixth inning. Hal McRae was hit by a pitch and was safe on his attempted steal of second when Rick Burleson dropped the throw from catcher Bob Montgomery. Following a walk, Harmon Killebrew singled to drive in McRae.
