. . . where the 1970s live forever!
Jim Barr pitched a six-hitter and Willie Montanez drove in two runs, one of them with his first homer since joining the Giants, to mark a 6-2 victory over the Braves. Singles by Derrel Thomas and Bobby Murcer, an infield out by Montanez and single by Chris Speier produced two runs in the first inning.

Speier doubled and scored on a single by Dave Rader in the fourth, giving Barr enough margin to win, but the Giants added singletons in each of the last three stanzas. Montanez homered in the eighth. Mike Lum hit one for the Braves. [The Sporting News]
