A pinch-single by Deron Johnson with the bases loaded in the ninth inning climaxed a three-run rally and brought the White Sox a 3-2 victory over the Twins. Bert Blyleven, pitching for the Twins, allowed only five hits before being removed after walking Bill Melton to open the ninth.

Bill Campbell, in relief, retired Bill Sharp, but Tony Muser and Ken Henderson singled, Melton scoring. After Campbell walked Brian Downing to load the bases, Tom Burgmeier took over. Johnson then batted for Pat Kelly and singled to drive in the tying and winning runs. [The Sporting News]
