With a homer by Jim Rice to set it off, the Red Sox scored three runs in the sixth inning and defeated the Indians, 4-2, for their fifth straight victory. Rice's blow broke a 1-1 tie. Rico Petrocelli, Dwight Evans and Tony Conigliaro followed with singles for another tally. The third run then counted on a grounder by Bob Montgomery. [The Sporting News]
