Posting his first shutout in a Yankee uniform, Catfish Hunter allowed only five hits and beat the Orioles, 5-0. Jim Palmer, who started for the Orioles, matched pitches with Hunter until the fourth inning when Chris Chambliss singled and Thurman Munson homered. In the sixth, after a double by Chambliss and two walks filled the bases, Ron Blomberg batted for Jim Mason and doubled to drive in the other three runs. [The Sporting News]
