. . . where the 1970s live forever!
Shut out through seven innings, the Phillies used home runs by Greg Luzinski and Mike Schmidt to overcome the Mets, 4-3. Philadelphia tied the score with two out in the eighth when Larry Bowa walked and scored on a double by Willie Montanez. Luzinski followed with his fourth homer of the campaign. Schmidt hit his first of the year to lead off the bottom of the ninth, making a winner of reliever Gene Garber.

The Mets took a 2-0 lead over starter Jim Lonborg in the fifth on a walk, forceout, Del Unser's single and Felix Millan's double. The New Yorkers made it 3-0 in the sixth on a walk, groundout and single by Jerry Grote. [The Sporting News]
