Gaylord Perry gained his 200th major league victory when the Indians erupted for three runs in the ninth inning to defeat the Brewers, 3-1. Johnny Briggs homered for the Brewers' run in the first and Pete Broberg protected that edge in a duel with Perry until the ninth when John Lowenstein hit for the circuit to tie the score.

After passing Oscar Gamble, Broberg yielded the mound to Tom Murphy. Ken Berry ran for Gamble and took third on a single by George Hendrick but was out at the plate on a grounder by Charlie Spikes. Boog Powell popped up, but John Ellis came through with a double, driving in both Hendrick and Spikes. [The Sporting News]
