. . . where the 1970s live forever!
In the battle for fourth place in the A. L. East, the Indians stayed a half-game ahead of the Brewers, gaining a 7-4 nightcap victory after Milwaukee had won the opener with a four-run, ninth-inning rally, 6-2. Pinch-hitter Bob Hansen pulled the Brewers into a 2-2 tie in the eighth inning of the first game with a solo homer, and consecutive two-out doubles in the ninth by Tim Johnson, Jack Lind and Don Money, with Johnson's driving home a pair of runs, wrapped up the verdict for Jim Colborn. Money tallied the Brewers' first run in the sixth when he scored from third on the front end of a double steal.

Two-run homers by Charlie Spikes in the first inning and Leron Lee in the sixth and a solo shot by Dave Duncan in the eighth helped the Tribe gain their split with a second-game victory. The verdict went to reliever Fred Beene, who held the Brewers to one hit over five frames after taking over from starter Jim Kern in the second inning, when Milwaukee scored three times, aided by two Cleveland errors.
