The Brewers, who got four-hit pitching from Jim Colborn and Tom Murphy, rallied for two runs in the seventh inning to defeat the Indians, 3-2. The Brewers scored an unearned run off Jim Perry in first on an error by Frank Robinson, an infield out and single by Dave May.

The Indians posted their pair in the fifth. Oscar Gamble homered and Buddy Bell was safe on an error by Tim Johnson. When Dave Duncan singled on a run-and-hit play, Bell raced home from first base. Darrell Porter sparked a Brewers' rally with a score-tying homer in the seventh. Mike Hegan doubled and gave way on the paths to Bobby Mitchell.
