Gaylord Perry gained his 20th victory of the season, but it took a gift run for the Indians' ace to defeat the Orioles, 1-0. Perry yielded five hits. Ross Grimsley, who gave up nine hits, matched Perry in a scoreless duel until the ninth inning when he beat himself on a pass with the bases loaded.

Buddy Bell singled, Rusty Torres was safe on an error by Tim Nordbrook and Oscar Gamble walked to fill the sacks. Grimsley then passed John Lowenstein on four straight pitches to force in Bell. [The Sporting News]
