Making up for his damaging error, Rod Carew hit a sacrifice fly in the ninth inning to bring the Twins a 3-2 victory over the Red Sox. Harmon Killebrew drove in the Twins' first two runs with a pair of sacrifice flies, but a fielding error by Carew with the bases loaded in the fourth enabled the Red Sox to tie the score against Bert Blyleven, who allowed only four hits and struck out 14. In the ninth, Glenn Borgmann walked, stopped at third on a double by Steve Brye and scored the Twins' winning run on Carew's fly. [The Sporting News]
